This direction can be altered by undoing the 4 Allen key bolts and rotate the pump to your desired direction. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"margin: 0 0 16px 0;\"\u003e2. The Grundfos CIL2 15-20 pump bearings are water lubricated on either end of the rotating shaft. It is critical that during installation, the pump's shaft must be parallel to the ground. Failing to do so will starve the upper bearing of water lubrication and wear out prematurely. During Summer weather, the solar system can enter a state known as stagnation after the tank temperature has reached top out. In this scenario, the water in the solar panels are super heated up to 180°C in flat plates and 250°C in evacuated tubes. This water wants to push back down to the pump. A solar rated check valve must be installed between the pump and the solar collectors to prevent this back flow. The absence or a failed check valve can result in the pump burnt by the back flow. When unrestricted, the pump is capable of pumping 4L\/min flow in most cases. However, the ideal flow rate is set to be between 1L\/min to 2L\/min when the Grundfos CIL2 15-20 pump is at its minimum power of 20W. This is achievable in most single and double story houses. Through lab testing and software simulation, this flow rate will promote the stratification in your storage solar tank, maintaining the usable hot water at the top rather than mixing up and creating a tank full of lukewarm water. In winter especially, the slower flow rate can increase the solar return water temperature.
